Throwing house parties for INCITE! can be a great way to not only raise much needed funds for the work, but to help build community and introduce INCITE! to new folks. Everyone learns first hand about the impact of their support.
A traditional agenda for a fundraising houseparty goes something like this:
People receive an invitation to come to a party.
The invitation makes it clear that the evening will be a fundraising event.
Party-goers arrive and are served some snacks & drink.
Someone does a brief presentation about INCITE!'s work.
Someone else stands up and enthusiastically asks everyone present to make a contribution!
That said, folks have been very creative about house parties - putting together innovative themes, integrating art and spoken word, having a discussion group about a particular topic, or just having a fun dance party.
